how to love yourself: step nine

Love Your Body

So many women tell me, “I want to love myself… but I just don’t know how.”

And when we trace that longing back to its roots, we often find the same thing: a strained, complicated relationship with the body they live in. If you’ve spent years ignoring your needs, criticising the mirror, or treating your body like an afterthought, please breathe this in…You’re not failing. You’ve simply never been taught how to love your body.

You can learn how to love your body now. Slowly, kindly, and in a way that actually feels safe.

Your body isn’t an object to fix.
It’s a home.
A loyal companion.
The sacred container for your spirit, your energy, your life.

And it’s waiting for you to return.

Your Body Is the Temple You Live In

Imagine your body as the carbon suitcase carrying your soul, your essence, your aliveness, your joy. When you begin to view your body through that lens, something softens. Something opens. The more you accept and love your body, exactly as it is today, the more your choices naturally shift. Not from punishment. Not from pressure. But from love.

Because how to love your body isn’t about forcing change, it’s about changing the energy behind the choices you make.

Nourishment feels different when it’s rooted in respect.
Movement feels different when it’s rooted in joy.
Rest feels different when it’s rooted in worthiness.
Your body responds to compassion.
It always has.

Finding What Works For Your Body

Not every body wants the same thing. And thank goodness for that. This step is about becoming curious:

✨ What movement brings you joy rather than dread?
💛 What foods make you feel light, energised, and nourished?
✨ What routines help you feel grounded, steady, and alive?

For me, qi gong and yoga were life-changing. They brought me back into my body, gently, slowly, lovingly. They taught me how to listen, rather than override. But your body has its own language. Its own rhythm. Its own way of communicating.

Learning how to love your body means tuning into that rhythm and letting it guide you.

Journal Prompts:

  • What parts of my body have I ignored, judged, or abandoned?
  • What do they need from me today?
  • What makes my body feel energised, alive, and full of vitality?
  • What one belief about my body am I ready to soften?

Activity:

Choose one short activity that helps your body feel alive: walking, yoga, qi gong, dancing in the kitchen! And commit to 15 minutes a day this week.

Not to shrink yourself.
Not to “be good.”
Simply to reconnect.

This is how you learn how to love your body, one compassionate act at a time.
