If Feeling is Healing, Why Am I so Emotional?

Jan 9, 2025 | Personal Growth

Have you ever asked yourself, “Why am I so emotional?”

Many of us have been taught to see emotions as inconvenient or something to suppress. But what if instead of trying to fix, avoid, or bury our feelings, we allowed them to guide us?

Your mental health will begin to shift when you change the question from “Why am I so emotional?” to “What are my emotions trying to tell me?”

Feelings are like messengers

Our feelings are like messengers, signalling that something within us needs attention. Whether it’s sadness, anger, or anxiety, each emotion carries valuable information about our needs, boundaries, and inner world. When we learn to notice, allow, and understand these emotions, we create space for healing.

By sitting with your feelings instead of pushing them away, you allow them to move through you. In doing so, they leave behind growth, clarity, and deeper self-awareness. Feeling isn’t weakness—it’s a pathway to healing.

So, the next time a wave of emotion arises, take a moment to pause and ask: “What is this trying to teach me?”
