Have you ever thought, “I know where this comes from… so why do I still feel like this?”
You’ve talked it through.
You’ve analysed it to death.
You understand your patterns.
And yet, your body still reacts like the past is happening in the here and now.
This is where EMDR therapy for trauma and anxiety can feel like the missing piece. Because healing isn’t just about insight.
It’s about helping your nervous system feel safe enough to finally let go.
Why the Past Still Shows Up in the Present
Emotional pain doesn’t politely stay in the past. It shows up as:
✨ anxiety out of nowhere, for no obvious reason
✨ overthinking everything
✨ feeling emotionally numb or overwhelmed
✨ reacting to something more than you’d like to
This happens because unresolved experiences get stored in the brain in a “frozen” form. So even though the event is over, your body still thinks it’s happening. EMDR helps your brain process what was too much back then.
Which means:
✔ triggers relax
✔ anxiety reduces
✔ emotions feel more manageable
✔ you stop reliving and start living
In other words, the emotional baggage gets unpacked. (And yes, it’s lighter on the other side.)
How EMDR Therapy Works (Without Reliving Everything Forever)
EMDR was developed by Francine Shapiro, and it’s now one of the most researched trauma therapies worldwide.
EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing. It uses bilateral stimulation, usually eye movements, tapping, light bar or buzzers to help the brain process stuck memories. Think of it like this: your brain already knows how to heal. EMDR simply gets it unstuck.

Rather than talking about something endlessly, your nervous system can complete the processing it couldn’t do at the time.
Clients often say things like:
- “It feels further away now.”
- “It doesn’t have the same emotional charge.”
- “I can think about it without getting upset.”
EMDR Plus Talk Therapy: My Gentle, Heart-Led Approach
Talk therapy is powerful, but sometimes it is not enough on it’s own.
That’s why I blend:
- compassionate and heart-led talk therapy
- EMDR processing
- emotional education
- spiritual psychotherapy
So you’re not just healing memories, you’re learning:
- how emotions actually work
- how to soothe your nervous system
- how to be kinder to yourself
- how to feel safe in your body again
We go at your pace. No pushing. No overwhelm. Just steady, supported healing. And you don’t have to remember everything clearly for it to work. Your nervous system remembers.
Is Talk Therapy & EMDR Right for You?
This approach is most helpful if you:
✔ feel stuck despite understanding the problem
✔ carry emotional pain from childhood or past relationships
✔ struggle with anxiety, panic attacks or overthinking
✔ feel triggered easily
✔ have done some healing work already, but you know the past is still affecting you.
